Remember that in a 5 hour reception, about 2-2.5 hours of your music is background music. The remaining time is dance music and that translates to about 40-50 songs pending genre.

We recommend choosing no more than 25 songs so that your guests can make requests and your DJ can insert some of his/her creative expertise. You can have your DJ limit the guest's requests to your approved styles. Be as specific with your "dislikes" as you are with your "likes"!

When creating a music list, the important songs are generally the ones you can think of off the top of your head. You do not want to "over-program" the reception, your DJ is an artist, not a jukebox.
